Nominations for the annual Presidential Distinguished Service Award.
The Embassy of Ireland would like to bring to your attention the call for nominations for the annual Presidential Distinguished Service Award.
The Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad (PDSA) was established by the Government in 2012, to provide a new system of State recognition for those living abroad, (primarily Irish citizens , those entitled to Irish citizenship, and those of Irish descent) who provide sustained and distinguished service to Ireland and/or Irish communities abroad.
The public notice and nomination form are attached below. In addition to completing the application form, nominators are asked to provide supporting material, at a minimum two letters of support. Further information is also available on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.
The closing date for receipt of nominations at the Embassy of Ireland, Canberra is Wednesday, 22nd April 2015.
On receipt of a nomination, the Embassy forwards it to Dublin for consideration by the High Level Panel. The High Level Panel considers nominations from the Irish diaspora around the world. The panel is tasked with making positive recommendations in respect of no more than 10 individuals in any one year. The High Level Panel’s recommendations are then approved by the Government. The announcement of recipients usually takes place around October.
If you have any questions or queries on the process, please do not hesitate to contact the Embassy.
